Booking a session with me is more than just smiling and posing at the camera. I like to approach each one knowing that I am stepping into unique and different dynamic. I get to know my clients in a way that makes them feel seen and understood leading up to their session. Because no one wants to feel like they are posing in front of a random stranger.
I feel like this is where my former NICU nurse comes out because I used to LOVE getting to know the families. I would actually forget that I was at work sometimes while chatting with them, it made our interactions that much sweeter. I definitely took that and have applied it to my business now, because it simply is more than just point and shoot.
Inviting me into your home and around your loved ones is vulnerable and can be daunting. The pressure to perform, hope everyone is on their best behavior, that your outfit is perfectly coordinated. And to tell you the truth, none of that actually matters that much. Capturing you the way you are, with the freedom to let loose, enjoying a meaningful activity together, showing as much affection and personality as you want, and focusing on the experience itself is how we get these beautiful images that tell a story. By letting yourself just be, knowing your photos will reflect you perfectly just the way you already are.

I am a big fan of movement and interaction during my sessions. Sometimes there is an activity that keeps things easy going. Other times the focus is simply the couple and I'll keep things conversational as I continue to get to know you more. Most importantly, I let my clients live through in each moment and allow them to stay connected as long as they want.

If you notice, I rarely offer mini sessions and there is a good reason for this. I have found that it takes a bit to warm up to people, even after doing the questionnaire, since we don't jump right into shooting. I am a talker and like to make my sessions personable, never wanting either of us to feel rushed in any way. I have found better results after making the decision to only do full sessions and my clients feel like they are getting the most of their investment. Remember we are telling stories here!

Something else that I have grown to love is being sneaky with behind the scenes videos of your session. It's the raw and candid version of you that makes me want to capture it a million different ways. And naturally has given people an inside look into how easy going and fluid sessions can be. They don't have to be stiff and awkward. They should be fun, full of connection and candid moments, each a little bit different because your story is unique.
Seeing you and your loved ones in a tiny glimpse of an unedited iPhone video is another tangible layer of booking a session with me.
And seeing your reaction to the magic we created is a feeling that I will never get over. But it all starts with YOU.
There is usually enough going on during a session where the photos will speak for themselves. But after all the editing that goes into your galleries, I like to create little gifs to bring your experience to life. Gifs are tiny videos that replay themselves to remind you a piece of our time together, And how fun is that?!
